Donald and Douglas are Scottish twins!
Donald and Douglas are based off of the Caledonian Railways 812 Class of 0-6-0, design by John F. McIntosh, with the majority constructed at St. Rollocks Works in Springburn, Scotland (A suburb of Glasgow), with others constructed by Dübs and Company, Neilson, Reid & Co, and Sharp, Stewart, and Company, all in Glasgow, Scotland, between 1899-1900. A spin-off of the class, known as the 652 Class, were all built at St. Rollocks between 1908-1909. They lasted up until BR Days, with the last one being retired in 1963. Today, one member of the class, #828, has survived into preservation, and is currently operational the Strathspey Railway in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Highland region of Scotland.
Strangely, Donald and Douglas' BR Numbers, 57646 and 57647, would actually make them the youngest members of the 652 Class.
