Molly is based on the Great Eastern Railway D56 Class of 4-4-0's. Designed by James Holden, they were built at Stafford Works between 1903 and 1911. These locomotives, alongside the similarly built S46 and H88 classes were nicknamed "Claud Hamiltons," after Lord Claud Hamilton, the chairman of the GER. Following the Big 4 Grouping of 1923, The locomotives were reclassified by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) as D15's. One interesting note is that these locomotives were the engines of choice for pulling the Royal Train from King's Cross to Wolferton. The "Claud Hamiltons" were withdrawn between 1945 and 1960, with the last D15 specifically being withdrawn in 1952, with none surviving into preservation. However, a new build project is currently going on to resurrect a "Claud Hamilton," Specifically D16 #8783, which will be named "Phoenix".
